As a village, Allouville-Bellefosse is ok; typical Normand village with its church, bakery and chateaux. What makes this village known is the fact that the oldest oak tree in France is located here. It is estimated that the oak tree started growing before the year 1000 AC ! There are paintings of the tree dated back to 1000.
Today, the tree can be visited. There is a staircase built around the tree, and visitors can climb up the tree (for free).

The tree is not exactly the most imposing, but impressive nevertheless. |
