Avranches is a city that was bombed during the WWII, and was reconstructed in great haste. But still a lot of the old city was preserved.

The city was initially built by the Celts. An old castle (dated back to 950) ruin is still in the center of the city.

Town Hall (Marie)
The town hall (Marie) is quite small for a town that size.
The old castle ruins dominate the city. What's left of the castle are in good shape.

Old English pub
Inside the city center, there are quite some old houses and buildings which were undamaged during WWI.
It gets crowded since the street are small and there are a lot of people.
